Just picked up my new Ford Fusion Titanium. Hazel says it;s a nice car to drive. Sadly, I think any car I get where I have to be a passenger is a lousy one! I just hope that I will be able to drive again sometime (though I honestly doubt it will happen).

As for the large deposits on many of this years models, I had anticipated that there would be fewer deals to be had given the hard times manufacturers have experienced. About 15 years ago, companies were falling over themselves to give away great Motability bargains. I was coming to the end of my Ford deal and had chosen Renault as my next marque. Close to the day of selecting my car, I was being offered great deals on Mondeo Ghias, Vauxhall Carlton's at almost nil deposit. How times change. I have always adhered to the principle that you don't get 'owt for nowt' and try to put away some money which I save from servicing, insurance, etc knowing that it will be time to part with some cash in Mid December, every three years.

And yes, Amanda, it does seem as if Motability has something against large families. Much of this issue lies with the Car companies who support Motability. When it was first set up, Disabled people were not supposed to be able to have families (that was the thinking in the days when disability was viewed as a medical issue rather than the social make-up we know it today.

A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
